Trousers

Trousers you do not have to think about are the backbone of a working wardrobe. Our trousers favour a high waist and a long line: wide-leg trousers that fall straight from the hip, 7/8-length flowing cuts that show the ankle, straight-leg suit trousers in plain and pinstripe, pleated styles for a tailored look and light drawstring trousers for comfortable, warm days. Colours stay in the neutral range so each pair works with several tops.

Choosing trousers by cut, rise and fabric

Start with the rise. A high waist lengthens the leg and lets you tuck a blouse or knit; it works with every cut we carry. Then choose the leg: wide-leg trousers balance a fitted top and flatter fuller hips, straight-leg trousers are the most versatile for work, and a 7/8 or cropped length shows a loafer or ankle boot. Fabric decides the season – light, airy fabrics for warm days, draped and pleated fabrics for a polished year-round look, slightly stretchy fabrics for long days of sitting and moving. Drawstring and elasticated waists are the most comfortable without looking casual when the leg is wide and the fabric falls well. Sizes run from XS to 3XL depending on the style; compare your waist, hip and inseam with the centimetre chart on the product page, and read our Trouser size guide for how to measure. The Fabric care guide covers light summer and pleated fabrics. For the blouses that finish the look, see our Blouses & Tunics.

Frequently asked questions

Wide-leg or straight-leg trousers: which suits me?

Wide-leg trousers balance a fitted top and skim the hip and thigh, which flatters fuller figures and tall frames. Straight-leg trousers are the most neutral cut and the easiest for work, and they suit shorter figures when worn with a heel or cropped above the ankle. Both work with a high waist.

How long should wide-leg trousers be?

The hem should fall to the top of the shoe with the shoe you will wear most, usually one to two centimetres off the floor. A 7/8 length shows the ankle and works with flats and loafers. Check the inseam in the centimetre chart against a pair you already own.

Do lightweight summer trousers crease and how do I handle it?

Light summer fabrics can crease a little after sitting; most people wear them that way as part of a relaxed look. For a smoother finish, hang the trousers after wearing and iron them slightly damp on the inside. The material block on each product page lists the composition, so you can see what to expect.

Are drawstring trousers smart enough for the office?

In a wide leg and a draped fabric, yes. Choose a plain colour, tuck in a blouse so the drawstring sits flat, and add a blazer and loafers. Avoid bulky knots; a neat bow or hidden cord keeps the look tailored rather than sporty.

How quickly is my order delivered?

On average your order takes 4-6 working days to the Netherlands, 4-7 working days to Germany and 5-10 working days to Austria; the exact delivery time of each item is shown on its product page. As soon as your parcel ships, you'll receive a track & trace so you can follow the delivery.

Can I return my order?

Yes, you have a 14-day statutory cooling-off period. If the product doesn't suit you or you're not happy, simply send it back and get your money refunded.
