Choosing pyjamas and lounge sets for comfort and climate

Match the fabric to the season. Waffle knit traps a little air and is the warmest of our sets; ribbed and jersey sets are the softest against the skin; satin-touch sets feel cool and are the most elegant for lounging. Short sets with a notched collar are made for summer nights and holidays; a kimono robe adds a layer in the morning without feeling heavy. Lounge sets with piping or a boat neck are cut to be seen in, so they double as relaxed weekend wear. Frequently asked questions

Should I choose pyjamas one size larger for comfort?

Not necessarily. Our lounge sets are already cut relaxed, with elasticated or drawstring waists. Order your usual size unless the product page says the style runs small. If you prefer extra room in the shoulders or across the hip, compare the centimetre chart with a set you already find comfortable.

What is the difference between a lounge set and pyjamas?

Pyjamas are designed for sleeping: lighter fabrics, simple cuts, often a notched collar and buttons. A lounge set is made to be worn awake at home – a sweatshirt and trouser or a boat-neck top and wide trousers – in slightly heavier fabrics with more shape, so it also works for a relaxed day out.

Are satin-touch lounge sets cool to sleep in?

Yes. Satin-touch fabric is smooth and does not hold heat, which makes it comfortable in warm bedrooms and on holiday. It also glides over the skin and hair. Wash it cold in a laundry bag and hang to dry to keep the sheen.

Can I wear a kimono robe as a day layer?

A printed kimono robe works as a light layer over a camisole and wide trousers at home or on holiday. Tie it loosely at the waist. Keep it for indoor and relaxed settings; for the street, a long cardigan from our knitwear gives a similar line with more structure.
